Marcus Rashford in easy win for Manchester United against Burton

Marcus Rashford was in devastating form for Manchester United on the night against Burton, as he led the line from the front, with Romelu Lukaku watching from the bench. Jose Mourinho made nine changes from the team which beat Everton on Sunday, but there was still plenty of experience in his team – with substitutes Scott McTominay and Joel Pereira the only unfamiliar names in the 18-man squad.

Burton made nine changes and fell 1-0 down when Rashford dinked the ball over keeper Connor Ripley.

England forward Marcus Rashford made it 2-0 with a 20-yard finish before Jesse Lingard’s deflected shot found the net.

Anthony Martial added the fourth from a Rashford assist, Lloyd Dyer scoring a stoppage-time consolation.

There were starts for Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera, the duo has been down the pecking order since the arrival of Matic, but their accomplished performances on Wednesday night will come as a boost to Mourinho in the wake of Paul Pogba’s recent injury.

There was also a first appearance of the season for Luke Shaw, who came on for Juan Mata at half-time and lined up at left wing-back.

Manchester United will travel to fellow Premier League side Swansea City for the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
