Manchester United announced that Andreas Pereira has extended his contract; which will keep him at the club until June 2019 with an option to extend for a further year.
Pereira, 21, has been at Manchester United since the age of 16 and has played at every level from Under-18s right through to the first team.
Jose Mourinho said: “Andreas is already a very good footballer. He is a young player with great natural ability and a good attitude towards continuing his development. I have no doubt that he has the potential to be one of the future great players of this club.”
Andreas Pereira said: “I am delighted that I have extended my contract with this great club. The manager is building a great team here and I want to be part of that as soon as possible. I am going to continue my development at Valencia this season in the hope that I will get plenty of minutes on the pitch. I would like to thank the manager for his help and guidance and for the faith he has shown in me.”
Andreas Pereira enjoyed a good pre-season with Manchester United, He featured in five of the club’s pre-season friendly matches so far, and has enjoyed the test of playing against big teams like Real Madrid and Barcelona.
‘Playing against such strong teams works you harder, you get more focus for the games and it is a good test for us, as well as them.
‘The games have been getting harder each time and it is good for us, as we have an important match in the Super Cup against Real Madrid next month.
‘We are testing ourselves as much as possible. We will definitely use this experience as we have the Champions League to play in this season. Now we know what to do against Barcelona if we play them in that.’
Andreas Pereira will spend this season on loan to La Liga side Valencia.
